Srinagar to Gulmarg: how far is it?
About 50 km, or 1.5 to 2 hours by road.
The route runs through Tangmarg and apple orchards. In heavy snow, the last stretch may need a snow-chain vehicle. Gulmarg to Srinagar on the way back usually takes about the same time. More in our Gulmarg guide.
How far is Sonamarg from Srinagar?
About 80 km, roughly 2.5 to 3 hours.
The Srinagar Sonmarg road follows the Sindh River and is one of the prettiest drives in Kashmir, so leave early and stop for photos. See our Sonamarg guide.
How far is Pahalgam from Srinagar?
About 95 km, roughly 2.5 to 3 hours.
You'll pass the saffron fields of Pampore and the ruins of Avantipora. Many people do Pahalgam as a day trip, but an overnight stay is more relaxing. See our Pahalgam guide, and check the J&K Department of Tourism for official travel advisories before you go.
Can you drive from Gulmarg to Pahalgam or Sonamarg directly?
You can, but it's rarely worth it.
Gulmarg and Pahalgam are about 140 km apart, and Gulmarg and Sonamarg about 135 km. Both routes go via Srinagar anyway. Stay in Srinagar and visit each one on its own day.
How long is the Sonamarg to Pahalgam drive?
About 170 km, or 5 hours.
Again, it's usually better to return to Srinagar in between.
